Founded in 2004 by Janey and husband, John; Epicurean Butter produces an extensive line of finishing butters distributed nationwide to restaurants, bakeries and retailers. Janey is a member of the Specialty Food Association, which awarded Epicurean Butter with the 2016 Sofi Award for Best Dairy or Dairy Alternative Product. The company was named a Colorado Company to watch - receiving the 2016 Taste Sensation Award.
After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Janey worked for specialty food distributors and owned a Baltimore-based gelato café. As a mother and a grandmother, Janey is reminded every day of her love for children - adoring their curiosity and uninhibited observations. With a deep belief that “all children should have the food resources necessary to grow to their greatest self” - Janey supports Share Our Strength because the cooking and nutrition programs offer lifetime skills that have impact. Janey finds joy in spending time with her grandchildren and exercising her artistic talents in clay and fabric.
Having grown up in New Mexico, Janey’s favorite recipes include Mexican food, especially vegetarian enchiladas and pinto beans - “the smell of green chili fills me with fond memories and an awareness that sharing food or food memories is fundamental to the human experience.” The quote by Virginia Woolf resonates with Janey, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
